Tongue Scraper 101
Have you ever used a tongue scraper in your entire life? Or let’s say, have you ever heard of a tongue scraper? Yes let’s face it, most people don’t know that this exists. Those who care about their mouth surely knows this and probably scraping their tongue off every single day that may become a habit for themselves.
What really is a tongue scraper?
A tongue scraper is an oral hygiene device that is designed to scrape off and clean off bacteria, food debris, fungi and dead cells from the surface of your tongue. The tongue develops a what you call the film that only develops while you sleep and is a good indicator of what’s going on inside your body. Clear, thick, white, yellow, brown, these are some of the physical surfaces you should look for. The bacteria and fungi on the tongue can result in some common oral care and general health problems which in primary leads to bad breath.
Scraping off your tongue should be done procedural on a regular interval basis, preferably after you wake up early in the morning. Involving a long, thin, flat piece of material, can be metal or plastic depends on what it is made of, which is bent and shape into of a “U”, to maintain that tongue feeling making the surface of your tongue visible and easy to scrape. To do this, extending the tongue and placing the scraper as far back on the tongue while making it comfortable for you to scrape. Gently scrape from the base of the tongue using one long stroke at a time, until you the whole surface of your tongue has been accommodated. Rinse the scraper and start again from the beginning. Firmly and gently, regularly same intervals because you don’t want to scrape your entire tongue off your body, right?
